The 311th District Court—A Court of Excellence
Promises Made, Promises Kept
Efficient
In 2018, Judge Tanner committed to maintaining a court that is efficient, fair, and offers a fresh perspective. Since taking office on January 1, 2019, we have faced challenges such as floods, a pandemic, and a subsequent backlog due to court closures that were beyond our control.
Despite these challenges, the 311th District Court has achieved impressive clearance rates: 100% for 2021, 107% for 2022, 112% for 2023, and 119% for 2024. In fact, we currently have the lowest number of active pending cases on our docket since 2010.
Fair
Throughout Judge Tanner’s two terms in office, she has consistently received high ratings in the bi-annual Houston Bar Association's judicial evaluation questionnaire-with an overwhelming majority of attorneys rating Judge Tanner as very good and/or excellent in all categories pertaining to her judicial performance, including her ability to demonstrate impartiality to attorneys and witnesses who appear before the court.
Fresh Perspective
The 311th District Court is dedicated to ensuring that all litigants have their day in court. To support this commitment, the court has established a generous preferential setting calendar, eliminated docket calls to expedite the hearing of cases, and continues to permit attorneys, litigants, and witnesses to make virtual appearances when necessary.
Our dedication to excellence in the 311th ensures that the citizens of Harris County have a court prepared to proceed with their cases, allowing them to move forward with their lives.
